Inspiration First

“In terms of priority, inspiration comes first. You come next. The audience comes last.”

- Rick Rubin

Most people tap into their Inner Creator and create first for their audience, which is why creating is such a struggle. Trying to create the perfect work for your audience is nearly impossible—you don’t know what they like, what will move them, and what they hope to receive from you.

They don’t even know, so how could you?

When trying to create for your Self first, it is difficult to force inspiration. It’s not impossible but it is difficult and the times you THINK you’ve created for your Self first, you actually allowed for the inspiration to find you first—it happened so naturally, you didn’t know.

Instead of creating for your audience or your Self, allow the creative idea to come to you, bring it to life in a way that is authentic to you, and allow the right audience to find your work.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
