Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Show
It’s been almost two weeks since the Super Bowl and I’m still watching Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Show.
Every time I watch the performance I do so with a huge smile on my face.
I love everything about it—the songs, the creativity, the symbolism, Kendrick’s delivery, the lack of a backing track, the guests, the simple yet powerful design, the authenticity, the defiance, how he popped up on Peekaboo, and the subtle jabs thrown throughout.
I know not everyone feels the way I do about this performance, but it inspires me to tap into my creativity and create what feels authentic to me—I watched this before giving my Keep Pursuing Series talk, “aligned”, this week.
I think we’ll eventually look back at this 13-minute performance in awe of what Kendrick was able to deliver and what it meant in a much larger way—after all, he said it was bigger than the music.
I expect to share the formal breakdown with all of the symbolism on The Dissect podcast when it finally drops to highlight the creativity, messaging, and symbolism that the majority of people missed.
Sadly, The NFL won’t let you watch the performance on my blog but you can still see if over on YouTube.
Keep pursuing,
JC
