The Intent Of Your Dollars
“Buy a lot of things just to feel a lot of ugly.”
- Mac Miller, 2009
How much of your spending is to impress others?
Honestly?
There’s no judgment on what and where you spend your money, as long as it is for YOU or the benefit of others.
Spending money to impress others does not lead to internal happiness—it might lead to a short endorphin spike, but once you realize the people you were trying to impress didn’t notice, didn’t care, or weren’t impressed the expected happiness is replaced by sadness, frustration, and as Mac Miller highlighted—ugly.
This is why aligning your finances with YOUR authentic life—your values, your goals, your purpose is so important. When you understand your values, goals, and purpose and align your spirit, mind, and body the need to find validation from others is greatly reduced. You can begin to allocate your money in ways that support your Pursuit, help others, and make you happy.
You may spend more money on something in your life than professionals or others say you should, but if those dollars fit within your budget, support your financial plan, and most importantly make you happy and align with your authentic life the amount spent is not a problem (if it doesn’t do those things, then the amount spent should be re-evaluated).
It’s not about the amount of dollars spent but the intent.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
