Fleeting inspiration

When inspiration hits you, move quickly.

How many times have you had a great idea or felt excited to create something and by the time you sit down to actually do or create it the moment is gone–the inspiration moved on?

When inspiration hits you, move quickly.

If you can’t act on the inspiration immediately at the very least write down what inspired you, what you want to do about it, and enough details to bring you back to the moment of inspiration. Remembering the idea isn’t enough–you need to try to recreate the feeling–inspiration is less the idea and more the feeling behind the idea.

You can also record a voice memo, which might actually be better because hearing the excitement in your voice can help bring you back to the moment of inspiration.

Don’t let your best ideas leave you—act on them or capture the moment to revisit later on.

A little behind the scenes: this note almost escaped me because the idea came to me in the shower and I wasn’t able to write it down immediately. Thankfully, I was able to keep it fresh in my mind until I could get downstairs to my notebook.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
