Abundance And Scarcity
Walking around The Sourcing at Magic trade show, I couldn’t help but notice the abundance filling the Las Vegas Convention Center.
An abundance of style.
An abundance of people.
An abundance of brands.
An abundance of optimism.
An abundance of opportunity.
An abundance of positive energy.
A trade show the size and importance of Magic (one of the largest for fashion and clothing) does not happen each year without a unifying mindset of abundance. The convention center is packed with what a scarcity mindset would see to be competitors, and while this is technically true, the brands and manufactures attending understand there are plenty of stores, boutiques, and buyers for them all to survive. Not only is there more than enough customers to go around, the “competitors” actually bring new potential buyers, customers, and brands they may never have met without them.
The brands and manufacturers are better together than trying to do it all alone.
Attending Magic not only brings customers to the brands and new brands to the buyers but it also brings the opportunity to network with their peers. If you’ve never spent time networking with peers in your profession, I highly recommend it. A network of potential customers is great but a network of peers, despite technically being competitors, is invaluable and only achievable with an abundance mindset.
It’s easy to fall victim to a scarcity mindset and this often finds its way into more than just business. Money, time, energy, and opportunity are common areas the scarcity mindset likes to show up but you don’t have to allow it to survive.
Adopting a mindset of abundance will not only lead to more opportunities, it will also make life more enjoyable. So, whenever possible, always default to abundance over scarcity….abundance > scarcity.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
