Fight To Control Your Mind, Not The Outside World
“You have the power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”
— Marcus Aurelius
Instead of trying to control the outside world, which you have no control over, shift your energy toward controlling your mind.
Yes, tragic events occur daily in the outside world; sometimes, those events might even happen to you. But beautiful events also occur daily in the outside world; sometimes, those events might even happen to you. Your mind is designed to focus on the negative to protect your Self from harm–the same natural response that has allowed humans to survive over thousands of years.
Whether you are surrounded by tragedy or beauty, those events in your world are not in your control–the only thing you can control is how you receive those events.
Your mind determines if you focus only on the tragic events or choose to focus on the beautiful events—what you focus on, what you give energy to, and what you choose to see will begin to shape the world you experience. This is why you can have two individuals living on the same earth, in the same town, at the same time with two different experiences in their worlds. One believes that the world is falling apart and that it is the worst time to have been alive and the other believes the world, while far from perfect, is full of opportunity and that there has never been a better time to be alive–I align with person #2.
Two different life experiences, yet both have the opportunity to see the world like the other.
You have the ability to choose whether you live in a positive, high-energy world or a negative, low-energy one. This influence over your experience resides within your mind, which you have the ability to control.
While you may not have control over the outside world, you do have control over your mind and how you experience life—master your mind and the way you see the outside world may change, which would almost be like having the ability to control the outside world after all.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
