Simplicity (1.6.23)

We make life too complicated.

Last week I went down to the hotel gym the Peloton was occupied and the small gym area was packed. I looked at the dumbbells and just wasn’t feeling them, so I turned around and began to head back to my room.

Then I saw an open patch of turf.

I concocted the following workout:

  • 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 reps

  • Air squats, push-ups, and walking lunges across the turf and back at the end of each round.

  • 15 minutes of Vinyasa yoga to finish.

That simple workout of three movements still has my legs sore—walking lunges are no joke, despite their simplicity.

Of all my workouts on vacation, the most simple with no equipment workout was by far the best of my trip.

I’ve already gone back to my Peloton, Tonal, and weights, but despite those complex (and sophisticated) workouts, rarely are my legs as sore as they were after those lunges.

Sometimes, probably more than we’d care to admit, simple is just as effective, if not more, than complex.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
