Defining The Authentic Life
The authentic life is the life YOU were created to live.
I think it’s safe to assume most of us believe in a Higher Power responsible for our creation—we were created in the likeness of our Creator, for a reason, with a purpose, and to work together by complementing each other’s gifts and talents to make our experiences blissful.
You were born with a unique set of talents, gifts, passions, character traits, and even weaknesses that when stepped into and embodied allow you to bring the best version of your Self to the game. Thanks to your uniqueness, you can do things better than anyone else. You can do things no one else can. The world and everyone else’s experience is better because of what you bring when you are living out your talents, gifts, passions, character traits, and even your weaknesses.
Or put more simply, the world and everyone else’s experience is better when you live your authentic life.
The authentic life if the life only YOU can live—it is unique to you.
When you realize the world needs the authentic version of you and you identify what it is that you and only you can bring to the game, it begins to become easier to align your life to support the authentic version of your Self. And as you align your life with your authentic Self, you find better company, greater happiness, more “success”, and purpose.
The authentic life is already inside you—it might just be buried under stories and misinformation from others.
If only discovering your authentic life was as simple as waking up one morning, knowing exactly what you should be doing, how you should be doing it, and stepping into your authentic life. Unfortunately, trauma, societal “norms”, stories planted in our minds, and other influences have buried many authentic lives or even led individuals to be unaware that an authentic life exists for them.
If your authentic life already exists within you, then your spirit, your mind, and your body hold the key to unlock it—and once you find the key you can release your authentic life and begin living it.
The best way I have discovered to find and pursue your authentic life is to connect with and align your spirit, mind, and body—to get to know your Inner Self and work through the trauma, misinformation, and head trash that keeps you from your authentic life. As your spirit, mind, and body begin to align you will know you are heading in the right direction because you will be happier, opportunities will seem to find you, the right people will enter into your life at just the right time, and you’ll feel as if you’re operating in a state of flow more than ever.
I share this from personal experience—I have lived this alignment, I have felt this flow, and I continue to live it each day. My own experience, in addition to witnessing others, is why I have become obsessed, in a good way, with the concept of the authentic life, improving my messaging around it, and trying to help people find and live their authentic life.
There is no shortage of “lives” you are being encouraged to live—the rich life, the best life, the ideal life, the dream life…
Fundamentally, I think they are all the same but it's in how you reach them that makes them slightly different. Whatever life you choose to pursue you have a choice to make—you can pursue the rich/best/ideal/dream life authentically and in alignment with the gifts, talents, passions, character traits, and even weaknesses that only you possess OR you can continue to chase it with the trauma, societal “norms”, stories, and influences that keep your uniqueness hidden.
The authentic life is your “rich life”.
The authentic life is your “best life”.
The authentic life is your “ideal life”.
The authentic life is your “dream life”.
I’m not sure if we can say vice versa for all cases.
If you take nothing else from today’s note, please remember that inside you is your authentic life. It is shaped by your unique gifts, talents, passions, character traits, and even weaknesses—these all allow you to be the best version of your Self and bring to the world something no one else can, which we all need!
You were meant to live your authentic life—why else would you have been created with unique talents and gifts?
We all need you to find, step into, and continue the pursuit of your authentic life because no one else can bring to the world what you can.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
