Life Is A Game Of Runs
It’s one of the best times of the year…March Madness. In our house, we’ve been watching as many of the games as possible. This weekend during the Elite 8 games I couldn’t help but make a connection between the game of basketball and life.
The game between FAU and Kansas State was an exciting game and it was one full of runs. Whenever one team would look like they were going to pull away the other would make a run and bring the score close again. This back-and-forth between the two teams made me think about how life is not that different than a great game of March Madness basketball.
In case basketball isn’t your thing, a “run” is when a team goes on to score a bunch of points in a row. They typically find the momentum in the game in their favor, are making defensive stops keeping their opponent from scoring, and score on nearly every possession. A run can be shortlived, 8-0 or 10-0, or it can be devastating 20-0.
Just like the FAU-Kansas State game was full of runs, our lives are full of runs as well.
During some stretches, we’re pushing forward quickly and scoring a bunch of “points”--we’re on a run. During others, we’re playing defense and working to overcome some type of challenge or obstacle–we’re trying to stop life’s run against us.
The key to winning a basketball game is to be able to weather the other team’s runs, have more runs of your own (or more productive runs), and never get down when the momentum is against you.
Life is no different.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
