The Angel Number 36
A few years after launching RLS Wealth I hired a designer to create a proper brand kit and new logo for the firm. I told her I wanted a logo that could stand on its own and eventually be recognized, even if RLS Wealth wasn’t attached to it–my own Nike Swoosh.
When we reviewed her proposal I immediately fell in love with a circle composed of 36 lines. There was no backstory to the number of lines in the circle, at least she did not share one with me and I didn’t think to ask–I was just excited to have a brand design I loved and could run with.
I consider myself a storyteller and as I looked to create a story behind the new logo, I came up with an obvious story behind the circle representing pulling all of the pieces of my clients’ lives together and creating a holistic plan. The number 36 I joked was connected to the Wu-Tang Clan’s Enter the 36 Chamber album as a representation of my love for hip-hop.
For 3 years I rolled with this story…
Until my mind was blown in a conversation with my friend Derick Grant. During one of our 3rd Thursday of the month meet-up, DG introduced me to Angel Numbers, which are numbers representing messages from a Higher Power helping us guide us toward our authentic life. I’d never heard of Angel Numbers before but I’d seen people get excited about seeing 1:11, 3:33, or 4:44 on a clock. I didn’t understand how powerful these numerical signs could be for the recipient until I experienced it myself.
DG explained how 36 was an Angel Number and when I looked up its meaning I realized the RLS Wealth logo was telling me an important message that I had missed until that day–and interestingly enough, that was when the message would be the most meaningful…I wasn’t ready to receive it before that day.
After a quick search, I learned the Angel Number 36 represents:
“Creativity, enthusiasm, and using imagination and intellect to bring about desired results into completion”.
and
“Number 36 is a message telling you that your focus needs to be shifted inward and on your family, rather than frozen to your career and professional life. These aspects of your life need to be reversed, so give it a 180.”

I immediately identified with the first meaning of the number 36; it was around this time I began to realize how important it was to me to create in a variety of ways–writing, podcasting, video, photography, and more. I was starting to view myself as a Creator who happened to be a financial advisor and not a financial advisor who happened to be a Creator.
As excited as I was to see the first representation, the second one had a greater impact and changed the direction of my pursuit. It was also at this time that I was beginning to realize I was doing too much in my life and burning out (the realization of burnout came a little later but the number 36 increase my awareness)--I was lying to myself that I could juggle multiple jobs and be a present father and husband. The RLS Wealth logo was telling me it was time to reprioritize my career and shift my focus inward on myself and my family. It was time to get back to working out regularly, eating healthy again, and not being distracted by work when it was time to be with my family.
As I spent more time focusing inward, I reduced my professional responsibilities, started working out and eventually found yoga, began meditating regularly, creating more, and found myself more focused and productive than ever. I became a better husband, father, financial advisor, and friend and I eventually aligned my spirit, mind, and body shaping the future of my pursuit.
For three years I was missing an important message that was staring me in the face but I’m not sure it would have had the same impact if I realized it earlier—I received the message exactly when I was supposed to.
How many signs have you missed?
As you align your spirit, mind, and body these subtle (and sometimes loud) signs become easier to identify, if you are aware and open to them. Allow the signs you receive to act as your guide and to help you navigate your pursuit–they won’t give you THE answer but will help you discover it.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
