Prune Your Rose Bush
When was the last time you told someone you cared about how much you appreciated them?
When was the last time you sent your favorite author/musician/creator a note letting them know how much their work inspires you?
When was the last time you send a handwritten note to a client thanking them for their trust over all the years?
When was the last time you shared on your social media network your appreciation of a friend/mentor/colleague?
When was the last time you called someone just to say “thank you for being in my life–you meant a lot to me!”?
These kind words, compliments, and public displays of affection are what I consider “roses”, and we don’t spend enough time letting the people in our lives know how much they mean to us–both publicly and in private.
In a world where many are experiencing fear, hatred, stress, depression, and countless other low-frequency emotions, taking a few moments each day to hand out “roses” can drastically change the lens through which people look at their world. I can promise the recipients of your roses will appreciate them, their day will be made, and you might just give them the boost of positive energy to shift their perspective on their experience.
Should you be fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of these roses, take the time to stop and smell them. For some strange reason, it’s hard for us to graciously accept roses with a simple thank you, smile, and maybe even a hug.
Being willing to receive roses is just as important as giving them out.
Spring is upon us and rose bushes will be blooming soon—be sure to take proper care of your rose bush by pruning the mature flowers to make room for new ones to grow. Sure those roses on the bush look pretty but eventually, they are going to whittle away. Share the beauty with someone you care about, or even a stranger, and make room for fresh new roses to bloom.
Nature wants you to hand out roses in order to keep the rose bush healthy, so be generous with the roses (love) you hand out.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
