experimentation brings opportunities
Earlier this week I shared my second “poem” and it received some amazing and encouraging feedback. I already had three more planned, as the poems are based on last fall’s Keep Pursuing Series, but after the feedback and enjoyment I had with writing this week’s poem, I think I’m going to write more.
I’m going to write more poems, with no expectations, as long as I continue to enjoy the process and the message resonates with those reading it.
Who knows, maybe in time I will be able to put out a book like Tupac’s The Rose That Grew From Concrete…or the poems just live on my website. It doesn’t matter to me, but the possibility to have a book of poems one day does not exist if I never started experimenting with writing poems.
I believe if I committed to writing more poems for a book it would impact my ability to write and make the process much harder and possibly one I stop enjoying, and I’d never write enough to publish the book.
It’s good to have goals. But, it’s also good to do things just because you are curious about doing them or find your Self enjoying the “thing”, especially in the creative process. Follow that interest, do it because you and enjoy it, and then see where it leads you.
Maybe it leads you to a book. Or, maybe it leads to a year of writing poems that live on a website and that’s it.
Both are a success.
PS-I want to tease that I have something really cool planned for the poems inspired by the Keep Pursuing Series—I can’t wait to share it later this year.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
