the Intentional Investor Podcast
Last week, I had the privilege of joining my friend, and past LifeDesign+ guest, Matt Zeigler, on a new “show” in the Excess Returns Podcast. Typically, the podcast is focused on different investment topics and also takes a look at how the investors they are speaking with invest their money.
Matt convinced the rest of the team to add a show, the Intentional Investor, where instead of looking at where guests invest their money, he dives into how guests allocate their human capital, time, energy, and other resources.
This was the first attempt at the Intentional Investor, and I’m really happy with where Matt took the conversation–he sent me nothing before the day of recording, so I went in not knowing where we’d go, but I knew Matt would lead us on a great conversation.
When I shared this episode on social media I said that Matt is one of the most talented podcast hosts I've been around and I'm not lying--I wanted to make sure he got his recognition here as well. Pay attention to how he's taking notes and allowing the conversation to freely flow where it is supposed to go--that is something I try to do when I'm hosting, but there's something about Matt's ability to bring his curiosity to the conversation that take his hosting skills to the next level.
As you’ll hear early in the show, Matt asks me about my goals, which prompted me to talk about vision vs. goals, and at his encouragement, I’ve been spending some time thinking more about the two perspectives and how to explain better how I view each. I think it’s pretty cool to see me unfolding an idea I’ve never intentionally thought about live and in the moment, and I'll eventually write and talk more about the subject.
For now, I’d love for you to check out this episode and let me know what you think!
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
