a reminder of how fast time flies

Over the weekend, I started to look into locations for our annual trip somewhere warm for New Year's. As I was looking for hotels available during the week we like to leave cold Indiana, I was putting in the ages of the boys, and it caught me off guard that Roman will be 14 and Leo will be 12 during our next trip–for some reason, Silas being 7 didn’t bother me as much.

I know time flies, and I’ve been able to increase being present over the last couple of years to maximize and enjoy my time with the boys. However, it still seems like it’s moving too fast—and I know that in the next few years, there will be less time with the boys as they continue to spend time with friends, go to games after school, and continue to establish their independence.

Planning this trip has helped me refocus my attention on the present moment and not think about how quickly the next few years will go and enjoy the moments as they happen.

Hopefully, the reminder I received over the weekend serves as a reminder to you to enjoy life as it unfolds and not to miss out on opportunities today that won’t be available in the future.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
