ride with your people
I finally watched Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer last night; if you didn't know, I’m a huge Christopher Nolan fan. I’ve watched the Dark Knight series countless times, I watch Inception a few times a year, I’m still trying to figure out Tenet, and Interstellar is one of my all-time favorite movies–I never get tired of Nolan’s movies.
Last night was a rare opportunity to watch a movie no one else in my family would want to see–Ang and Silas both fell asleep early, Roman and Leo were playing video games with their friends, and I thought about “work” that I could do. Ultimately, I decided to skip the work and that relaxing with a movie without distraction was okay and probably good for me.
I’m glad I took the time to be “lazy.” Not only did I enjoy the movie, but I also caught an idea that would become today’s note.
If you’re a Nolan fan, you probably already know how he works with many of the same actors throughout his movies–he’s found actors who understand him and who he understands in return.
He’s found his people and continues to ride with them—this also includes working with Hans Zimmer on several of the soundtracks (no surprise, I’m a big Zimmer fan as well).
When you find the people in your life aligned with where you are going, who understand you, and who you understand in return, keep them close and ride with them.
See you tomorrow (or later today) and keep pursuing,
JC
