effort > outcome

“Focus on effort, not outcomes.

It’s insane to tie your wellbeing to things outside of your control, Marcus Aurelius said. If you did your best, if you gave it your all, if you acted with your best judgement–that’s a win… regardless of whether it’s a good or bad outcome.”

Two random thoughts:

  • Oftentimes, though not always, when you focus on your effort and give a good effort, the outcomes tend to be positive.

  • “Good” or “bad” outcomes are defined by you. The outcome is just the outcome until you label it “good” or “bad.”

See you tomorrow (or maybe later today, possibly tomorrow with the Weekly Note as we are spending the majority of the day outside because it’s beautiful) and keep pursuing,
