protect your peace
“I tried to jab back, and I try to keep it friendly, but at the end of the day when I listen to it, and when it comes out and I see the talk, that…don’t sit right with my spirit. That… disrupts my…peace.”
&
“The past two days felt terrible. It let me know how good I’ve been sleeping for the past 10 years.”
-J. Cole
I doubt most of you have been following the excitement in hip-hop right now, but this is a quote from J. Cole after he released a diss track about Kendrick Lamar. He ended up taking the track off his album, which, in hindsight, looks like an incredibly smart business decision.
J. Cole received a lot of hate for backtracking on his diss track, but I immediately felt and appreciated his “why”; he got caught up in the moment, probably was influenced by the excitement of others, and put out a song that didn’t align with his authentic self.
Instead of leaving something that didn’t sit well with him and was impacting his happiness, he took action, took it down, and realigned his life.
There are going to be times in your life when your emotions might get the best of you and you react, instead of respond.
If your reaction doesn’t align with your authentic Self you have the opportunity to apologize, correct, or change your mind to realign and find your peace.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
