trust the vision of others

I’ve been anxiously waiting for a custom piece of art based on the book The Alchemist to be finished so I can hang it in my podcast studio, and while I’ve been anxious to get it, I’ve also been content allowing my friend, Tony, all of the time he needs to complete it. When I asked him to create a vision for this painting, I shared a few things I wanted in the piece and then told him he had total creative control over what it would look like–I wanted him to create a piece of art that he loved.

We thought it was done a couple of weeks ago, and while it sat waiting to get stretched onto a frame, the Universe spoke to Tony and told him it needed a little something more.

This week, Tony texted me and said the painting would be put on the frame, but before he did that, he wanted to add a little finish to it—it felt too “clean.” I loved the painting as it was, but I told him to do his thing and that I trusted his vision. I reminded him I wanted him to love the painting.

I received another message yesterday with an updated picture, and the additional work Tony did on the painting took it to the next level.

Had I asked Tony just to send it as-is when he checked to see if it was okay to do some more work on it, I would have received a great painting–one I would have loved and been proud of the world seeing in every podcast episode recorded in my studio. But, because I trusted his vision and what his heart told him about his work, I will get the perfect painting for my office. And hopefully, later in life, when someone asks Tony what some of his favorite pieces were, The Alchemist painting of ‘24 makes his list.

There are times in your Pursuit when you rely on others that you will have to trust their vision and relinquish control—if you’re aligned with the right people, you have nothing to worry about. Trust the gifts that others have been given, especially when you lack that same gift–it will create harmony that brings amazing results.
