stereogram posters

If you grew up in the 90s, you probably remember the stereogram posters that were all the rage for a couple of years; you may not recognize the name, but these were the posters that looked like a blurry collage of colors and shapes that held a hidden 3-D image to be revealed by focusing on the poster.

You might need to enlarge this picture first--can you see it?

I remember when they first became popular, kids bought posters or books with the images in them and stared at them, trying to see the hidden images at school. Some could see the hidden dragon, elephant, or whatever image was embedded in the picture. Some struggled. And some were never able to see past the blurry picture.

I discovered the trick that allowed me to see past the blurry picture and see the 3-D image: relax my eyes and not try too hard. I’m honestly not sure how I relax my eyes, but I know how to do it, and I can still see the 3D image. Apparently, once you learn the trick, you can always do it—even 30 years later.

Pursuing your authentic life is not too different than seeing a 3-D image hidden in a stereogram picture.

The details are right in front of you, or sometimes even held within, and you just need to know where and how to look for them. And sometimes, the harder you try, the harder it is to see what you’re looking for; as was the case with me, the more I relaxed, the easier it became to see the image in the poster.

You’re staring right at your authentic life. Are you able to see the details of the hidden image, or are you stuck with a blurry picture?

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
