The Win-Win Of “Why?”
Asking the simple question of “why?” can be an enlightening experience.
How often do you sit down and ask your Self “why?”…
Why do you hold your core beliefs?
Why did you choose your profession?
Why do you live where you live?
Why do you hang out with the people you hang out with?
Why…
If you approach answering the question(s) honestly, you might have some reservations because of what you might learn—you might discover that some aspect of your life is not what you would have chosen for your Self; you’ve been influenced by family, friends, teachers, society to take on something that is not aligned with your authentic Self.
Depending on what it is—let’s just say your career, it could have massive repercussions on the path you pursue going forward, assuming you decide to do something about that. After exploring several rounds of asking “why” because the truth rarely is found at the first “why”, you could discover the life you’ve experienced until that point is not the life you want for your Self going forward and choosing to align with your authentic will certainly bring about a lot of change.
Asking “why?” could be life-changing.
It could also reaffirm that you are living as your authentic Self.
By challenging your current life with “why?” you could confirm the path that you are on is one chosen by you, or at least in line with your authentic Self and be confident as you continue forward in Pursuit of your authentic life.
Many people never ask “why” for fear of what may follow if they learn they are not living in alignment with their authentic Self, which is understandable. Depending on the changes that might come with the new truth, life could become very uncomfortable as they move toward the life that aligns with who they truly are. And we humans are hardwired to avoid discomfort.
This is a shame.
Instead of viewing “why?” as a scary question, view it as a question with a win-win outcome in the long term.
Win #1– you discover you are on the path that aligns with your authentic Self.
Win #2– you discover you are not on the path that aligns with your authentic Self and you have the opportunity to correct course and begin to pursue your authentic life, ultimately living a happier, more fulfilled, and purposeful life.
Don’t fear questioning different aspects of your life because if you are honest, it will only lead you toward the authentic life and Self you were meant to experience.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
