Be Who You Are

A friend of mine recently shared some wise words of wisdom from Lao Tzu,

“Be who you really are…and go the whole way.”

These words held a dual purpose.

The first was to help me encourage others to pursue their authentic life–be who they really are and go the whole way. I seem to find confidence in quotes from leaders who have come before me that support my message. The concept of the authentic life has been around for CENTURIES

The second was to remind and encourage ME to be who I really am and continue to go the whole way. I am sure that as I continue to pursue my authentic life, I will learn new things about my Self and will have further to go to be who I really am, and I expect that will sometimes come with discomfort that I will have to embrace to go the whole way.

The beauty in Lao Tzu’s words is who you really are already exists in YOU–that version of you is there waiting for you to discover, embrace, and step into it.

I’ll end with another random quote that showed up in a recent yoga class:

“Start where you are.”

This was stitched on the underside of a classmate’s shirt, and it remained flipped up for me to see for almost the entire class–it’s like the message wanted to make sure I saw it and didn’t forget it.

As you begin to discover and embrace who you really are, don’t spend time trying to figure out the best way to start…just start where you are.

The rest will take care of itself.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
