The Fluidity Of Your Authentic Life
Your authentic life is not a destination—it is a state of being. The Pursuit of your authentic life is never ending because you will grow, evolve, and mature throughout your experience in this life.
Who you are today is not who you were when you were younger and will not be who you are in the future. This is true whether or not you are living your authentic life but identifying and aligning your spirit, mind, body, and money to live your authentic life does not mean the Pursuit is over.
Bruce Lee famously said,
“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.”
This is a great quote to remember as you go through life and feel pulled to experiment and explore different versions of your Self. Allowing your Self the freedom to flow like water, led by your interests and eventually passions, will allow your authentic life to continue to evolve and lead you to exactly where you are supposed to be and to whom you are supposed to be.
In this morning’s meditation, the instructor, Manoj Dias, guided me through prompts in a meditation called “Create Yourself”. At the beginning of the meditation, he spoke words that inspired today’s note:
“To live life in all its fullness we have to not only accept the inevitability of change but embrace it—not only as a fact of life but as a continual opportunity for learning and creation.”
Changes in our Self should be viewed as opportunities to learn, grow, and create new versions of our Self and not something to resist.
The ability to view these changes as opportunities rather than resisting them is found through the connection to your spirit, mind, and body—without the alignment of these areas of your Self, resistance steps in because the ego does not want to lose its identity with change.
Your authentic life brings you to living life “in all its fullness”, as Manoj described, and that will not come without change. You have the choice to resist change and miss the opportunity to become the person you want and were meant to be or you can embrace change and become like water to flow with the fluidity of your authentic life.
“Be water, my friend.”
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
