Pour Into Others
When (not if, but when) you find yourself on a plateau or feeling stuck and not making progress, shift your attention and energy away from yourself.
Continuing to analyze why you’re not seeing the progress you seek, doing more of what you’re continuing to do hoping to breakthrough, or ignoring that the plateau might just be the Universe telling you to give yourself a break will only add to the frustration and potentially lead you to give up.
So, don’t continue to frustrate yourself, take a break–this doesn’t mean you don’t keep doing little things to take small steps forward, and pour your energy into others.
Pouring into others will have multiple positive effects on you.
First, it will make you feel better. Think about the last time you did something for someone else out of the kindness of your heart–how did you feel?
Second, it will elevate your frequency. Pouring into another person is a high-frequency (positive energy) activity and will help you attract more positive energy to you, which will help you move off your plateau.
Finally, it will create an imbalance in the Universe. One possible explanation for your plateau or becoming stuck is that because you’ve been working so hard and made a lot of progress you’ve created an imbalance in your favor. In order to bring the Universe back into balance, you need to give to others. Another potential explanation for your plateau is the progress you made prior to becoming stuck brought the Universe back into balance and by turning your energy towards others you will create a deficit in your favor, which will eventually have to be balanced back out by momentum swinging your way. These two scenarios are very similar—might even be two sides of the same coin but they are different in why the imbalance is created.
These positive effects, amongst the other good outcomes of your helping others, will help you build new momentum and return to your pursuit for the next phase of progress, or could even bring clarity to help you realize there are changes to be made in the direction of your pursuit. Either way, you will no longer be on your plateau and feeling stuck.
I’ve failed to mention a very important thing.
The act of pouring into others has to be GENUINE. You might recognize you’re feeling stuck and shifting your energy more toward others must be for the benefit of that individual, not just to try to get unstuck. Moving off your plateau is the byproduct of the good you do for others, not the other way around.
If you’re looking for ways to pour into others, here are just a few ways:
Share someone else’s project or business with your network.
Send flowers to someone going through a tough time.
Make a call or send a text to tell someone how much you appreciate them.
Help someone moving to unpack and get settled in their new home.
Take a “pick your brain” phone call or Zoom meeting.
Think about something you’d appreciate being done for you and do that for someone else.
As you can see, pouring into others doesn’t have to be complicated or even expensive–the more simple the act, the more impactful it can be.
Funny how that works.
When we’re feeling stuck and frustrated it’s not our natural instinct to think of directing our energy away from ourselves and to others, but that might just be what you need. And if not, at least you will have made someone else feel better and that can only bring good things your way.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
