What If You Surrender?

“ What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is? what could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say “yes” to life — and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.”

-Eckhart Tolle

I have a friend who recently shared with me an inspiring story of what can happen when you surrender from trying to control everything in life–his story could also be looked at as detachment as well as surrender...I’m going to have him eventually share his story publicly.

I want you to think back to something you really wanted. This thing, experience, or even person probably constantly occupied your mind, and as long as it dominated your thoughts, it remained at bay.

Eventually, the obsession fades, and you may have even conceded that it wasn’t meant to be, and whatever it was (or whomever it was) was not actually that important to you, surrendering from the belief that you needed it.

How many times, once you surrendered or detached, did the thing or person then show itself to you, ready to be a part of your life?

Sometimes, the thing you want so badly is, in fact, an important part of your journey, but it will only reveal itself as yours once you realize you don’t actually need it–that you are everything and have everything you need in you.

If you find your Self stuck or plateaued because you are waiting for that phone call, email, or person to come into your life, try surrendering that idea, detaching from the value you have assigned to it, and believe you don’t actually need it–belief is key, you cannot fake the Universe out.

It’s in our nature to want to be in control of everything in our life; once we understand that we can only control our Self and surrender the desire to control everything else, things interestingly begin to fall into place exactly as they should–and how we would want them to.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
