Opening New Doors

“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”

- Walt Disney

Today, we head home from spending a few days at Disney World for the boys’ fall break and I find it hard not to leave inspired by what Disney World, and the entire Disney enterprise, has become. I don’t care what the stock has done in the last couple of years (nothing), whether or not people agree with social stances the company has taken, or any other noise that takes away from the incredible business the company has become and more importantly, the amount of happiness and core memories (to steal from Disney’s Inside Out) has created.

I haven’t read a biography on Walt Disney (yet), but I doubt he envisioned what it has become in the beginning.

“I hope we don’t lose sight of one thing–that it was all started by a mouse.”

- Walt Disney

A sketch of a mouse on a cross-country train ride combined with Walt’s curiosity, willingness to follow his interests and passion, try new things, fail and learn, and keep going down new paths allowed his vision to grow into something the world had never seen.

Curiosity and allowing your Self to follow down new, and possibly scary, paths is an underrated characteristic for those looking to pursue a life lived on their terms.

Be curious. Be adventurous. And keep pursuing.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
