your content diet

I’ve referenced the Rich Roll podcast with Hakim Tafari in previous notes, and as I was re-listening to the episode, I couldn’t help but notice how Hakim’s energy, words, and laughter made me feel so good.

His high frequency and positive energy radiated through my iPhone, lifting my frequency and energy. I thought to my Self, "It’s kind of hard not to be happy, excited, motivated, etc. when listening to people like Hakim.”

I then thought about the other podcasts I watch and listen to, and for the most part, they are full of people like Hakim. Not every episode necessarily has as positive a narrative as the one I was listening to with Hakim, but by and large, the guests and hosts are high-frequency and positive-energy people.

We all consume a lot of content throughout the day—it could be reading, watching, or listening, and that content, whether we realize it or not, influences our energy, how we feel, and even how we see the world.

Maybe it’s just the topics I’m interested in that tend to be more positive and high-frequency, but I know there is A LOT of low-frequency, negative, and maddening content available. Unfortunately, I think that content is what most people listen to most of the time. This is probably a significant contributor to why so many people are unhappy, frustrated, and jaded with the world; the content is perhaps not the root cause of their unhappiness, but it certainly perpetuates it.

I encourage you to take an inventory of what you read, watch, and listen to.

What is the energy of the guests, hosts, and subject matter?

Can you find alternative publications and shows to get your information and entertainment–potentially ones that are not so negative and low-frequency?

If not, can you spend less time consuming those and find more time to consume ones that pertain to the passions and interests in your life that make you happy?

There are enough challenges in life to overcome and work through, and it’s a shame that the content you consume can make it hard to move past because of what it does to your energy, emotions, and mood.

Find the content that leaves you inspired, motivated, happy, and looking more favorable on your life and the world.
