it all starts with energy
I can tell if Roman will have a good game or not by his energy during warm-ups and when he steps on the court for the tip-off.
His energy tells me everything I need to know.
I’m not talking about whether or not he got a good night’s rest or ate a good breakfast–I’m talking about the energy that reflects his level of confidence and self-belief.
How can I tell?
I can see it in his eyes.
I can see it in the way that he walks.
I can see it in the way he sizes up his competition.
It all starts with his energy.
Naturally, his energy elevates after making a shot, getting a steal, or dropping a nice pass to a teammate for an assist.
Sometimes, his energy drops after a bad pass, getting the ball stolen, or missing a shot.
As a soon-to-be fourteen-year-old, it’s not always easy to maintain a high level of energy when things aren’t going his way—shoot, it’s not always easy for adults to maintain a high level of energy when things aren’t going their way.
I’m trying to help him realize that no matter what is going on in the game, and in life, he needs to maintain his confidence—keep his energy high because his success on the court, and the success of his teammates, is dependent on his energy.
It ALL starts with his energy.
