the black box

I don’t read a lot of fiction, but the last book in that category I read was Dark Matter. I read it in one day—the day I flew out to Arizona to speak at the EPI Conference in 2023. I remember having to finish reading the book before I finished preparing for my talk the next day. I just couldn’t put it down.

Dark Matter recently made its way to Apple TV+, and I was naturally excited to check out the series and see if it was as good as the book. So far, I’ve really enjoyed it, but I still prefer the book. I think I’m going to go back and reread it after I finish watching the series to revisit the full story.

This isn’t going to be a book report because I don’t want to ruin any of the story, but it is important that you know Dark Matter involves the ability to travel to different “worlds”--commonly referred to as the multiverse. This transportation is done via a giant black box that, once entered and you’ve been injected with some “medicine,” transforms into an infinite hallway with endless doors that represent different timelines of possibilities.

Open a door, and you have access to a different world with new possibilities for your Self.

Sounds pretty exciting, right?

There is an important catch: the multiverse you access through the door will be heavily influenced by your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and beliefs–both conscious and subconscious.

Knowing that, would you still enter—would your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and beliefs bring you a new world you’d want to explore?

If you felt confident enough to enter and take the medicine,

What would you change?
Who would you be?
Why would you leave this world?

Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, this magic black box does not exist–after all, this is all based on a fiction book.

BUT…

You can change the world you are currently experiencing through the same factors that influenced the multiverse—your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and beliefs.

If you’re not content with the world you live in, try changing your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and beliefs; change how you look at the world, and the world you experience will change.

You contain your own black box!

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
