how to know what’s authentic to you

While listening to an interview with rap artist Russ and producer Kyle Beats (I'm doing research for whenever my interview with Russ happens), I noticed an interesting experience both artists shared. Midway through the conversation, the two started talking about whether or not Russ used TikTok. He shared that he’d tried it, but he didn’t spend much time on it because it didn’t feel authentic to him.

Kyle followed up with a couple of examples of some things he had tried that didn’t feel authentic to him.

It was clear to me that Russ and Kyle know their Selves well enough to notice the feeling of inauthenticity, which has helped them stay true to who they are. I have no doubt their authenticity has been a major contributor to their success.

How well do you know your Self?
Can you tell when something you are considering is not aligned with your authentic Self?

It’s been my experience that the best way to know when something is not authentic to you is through the feeling you get; yes, another “feeling” as your guide, but it’s the only way I know how to recognize what’s not aligned with me.

Just another reason to be in tune with your inner Self.

Whenever you have a decision in front of you, do not dismiss or minimize the feelings you feel that tell you it is inauthentic.

The more you pay attention to that feeling or any other feelings of intuition, the more in tune you will become with it, which will lead you to being able to pick up on it sooner and more likely to avoid moving in ways that are not aligned with your authentic Self.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
