look how far you’ve come

When was the last time you took a moment to look at just how far you’ve come?

In the moment, it’s hard to see the progress you’ve made because you’re so focused on what is going on and what you want to see happen in the future. It’s easy to feel as if you are merely treading water and not making any progress. That is until you actually take some time to look back at all that has transpired over the timeframe–and it doesn’t matter what timeframe you choose.

It’s important to acknowledge your progress and reflect on whether or not that progress is moving you in the direction you want to go. Whether you realize it or not, you are constantly evolving; this was pointed out a long time ago by Heraclitus with one of my favorite quotes,

“No same man could walk through the same river twice, as the man and the river have since changed.”

And, if you are constantly evolving but not taking inventory of where your evolution is taking you, you might end up on the wrong path.

“The good news is you came a long way. The bad news is you went the wrong way.”

- J. Cole (edited)

So take the time to look back at how far you’ve come and either:

  • Celebrate the progress you’ve made moving you in the direction you want to go and build on that momentum.

  • Correct the progress you’ve made moving you in the wrong direction so you can get back on the right path and eventually look back in the future and celebrate the progress you made since correcting course.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
