This week, I completed a two-day class, The Seven Stages of Money Maturity, which completed the Registered Life Planner® (RLP®) designation requirements. I’m stoked to have the designation–I’ve already added it to my email signature for RLS Wealth and on the website. I even placed the RLP® before the CFP® after my name. I did this to highlight the focus of my work going forward is first life planning/designing and then financial planning—financial planning is done right when it is aligned with the authentic life, which requires life planning first for most people.
Since the two days of class were centered on George Kinder’s book The Seven Stages Of Money Maturity, I decided to crack the book open and flip through it a bit. It’s been a while since I’ve actually read through it, and as I was flipping through it I found a page that had a bunch of highlights. The green highlighter marks caught my eye, so I stopped to read the page, and interestingly enough I came across the quote that started today’s Note.
This quote was NOT highlighted.
It should have been—but it shows me when I first read this years ago, I wasn’t ready for the idea of the authentic life, connecting spirituality to money, and understanding how important freedom was to me.
George’s quote is another way to say our purpose is to live our authentic lives.
The hard work in this assignment to live our authentic life is finding it, which is why so much of my focus resides in the alignment of spirit, mind, and body…figure that out, and money will take care of itself falling into alignment with your authentic life.
