your story matters
We all are writing our stories—or, I hope you are at least working on taking back the pen to write your life's story.
Regardless, you have a story and it is an important one.
I thought a lot about my conversation with Hakim Tafari over the weekend (I even revisited both of his appearances on the Rich Roll Podcast). I kept returning to his reassurance that my story is just as important as his story, which is incredible, BTW.
Just like with our finances, we often compare our Selves with others. Keeping up with the Joneses doesn’t just apply to money; it also manifests in how we view our Self.
I am extremely grateful for the life I am able to live–I have no complaints—but when I compare my story and how important it might be in helping others with someone like Hakim’s, I feel inadequate.
This is silly.
First, our stories are not meant to be compared.
Second, our stories are neither good nor bad, better nor worse—they just are.
Finally, I think our stories are meant to complement each other to help the greater good grow. One person can’t experience every possible life path to share with others for them to learn. So, we each experience our path, and if we are brave enough to share it with others, we can help people grow, evolve, and learn from our experiences.
So, avoid comparing your story with someone else’s. Focus on pursuing your authentic life, guided by your heart, passion, omens from the Universe, etc., and if you are comfortable, share your story with others because your story is just as important as anyone else’s.
Maybe your story impacts the lives of thousands like Hakim’s.
Or, maybe your story impacts the life of one.
It doesn’t matter the quantity—it just matters that someone is better off because of your willingness to share.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
