connecting the Universe’s dots
Over the last couple of weeks, I have felt like I’ve unlocked a new level of consciousness and understanding that was capped off yesterday with a priceless Zoom call with Hakim Tafari. If you’re a Weekly Note subscriber, you’ve met Hakim before through the Rich Roll podcast episodes I’ve shared in the past.
Hakim was exactly who I thought he was after watching multiple of his interviews—his energy, authenticity, and love for life matched every interview I've seen. It’s remarkable to meet someone over Zoom and feel their energy and love through the screen. I hope I’m able to transmit energy the same way Hakim does.
I’ll get to one of the important connections Hakim helped me make in a minute, but I want to share how a few separate experiences aligned to help me receive an important message. This message could have been easily missed if I had not been open to receiving the Universe’s communication.
I want to start with the session on intuition I attended this week.
I almost didn’t attend the session because it fell during my usual yoga practice. Thanks to a mistake in reading when tickets to the Kendrick Lamar concert would go on sale (I thought it was 10:00 EST when it was 10:00 PST—it actually ended up being 11:00 EST, but that’s another story), I skipped yoga, which meant I could attend the session after all.
Thursday’s Note shared several takeaways from the session, but one in particular was recalled later in the week and became an important part of the Universe’s message to me.
Creating from the soul is true creation. It is creating just to create, with no pressure or motivation other than to just create. Creating from the soul arises from our Higher Power/Source.
I know this.
But it was a great reminder and confirmed my belief in where our creative energy comes from and why we should create. I can honestly say that the majority, if not all, of my creative work, comes from my soul—I HOPE that it eventually leads to opportunities to do more of the work I love, but the possible business opportunities are not the motivation for my creating.
Part one of the message was received, and while I knew it was important and something I should remember, at that time, I didn’t know more would be coming on Thursday.
Thursday was my weekly call with my coach, Phil. Since we didn't meet on Thanksgiving, I spent most of the call bringing him up to speed on the last couple of weeks. At the end of the call, I wrote down something that was part two of the Universe’s message.
“I should appreciate where I am and how I can create, grow, and evolve without any pressure.”
As you get clearer about your authentic life, you will develop a vision of what you are doing as that version of yourself, and it will become easy to want to rush it. But rushing it causes you to miss out on the beauty of the Pursuit and the lessons and experiences that come along the way.
I’m in a fortunate position that allows me to explore and express my creativity without needing it to provide for my family or my business—I can create just to create. I have the freedom to create from my soul, which most people aren’t able to do because they need their creations to lead to business. If I continue to create from my soul good things will come, and the current version of my authentic life allows me to do so.
Part two of the message was received and was connected to part one of the Universe’s message.
Now we can come back to my Zoom with Hakim on Friday.
The call was supposed to be an hour-long mindfulness/meditation session, but internally, I hoped I’d have more time to actually talk with Hakim and get to connect with him on a personal level–from the interviews, I really felt that we’d get along and connect on a higher level than just a random meditation session scheduled on his website.
We talked for 50 minutes and meditated together for 10.
During our conversation, Hakim reminded me that we all have a story. Sometimes, our story has struggles and insurmountable obstacles to overcome—these are often the stories others hear and are inspired by, as represented by the hero’s journey, which is the most famous storyline in movies and books. I’ve always struggled with the value of my journey because it doesn’t necessarily follow the hero’s journey the way we’re used to seeing it.
Just because my story lacks a dramatic downfall doesn’t mean it’s less impactful than someone who has overcome tremendous adversity. Hakim pointed out that I’ve manifested this life and that it can be just as much an inspiration for others—for those currently struggling and those who have had a smoother journey. There’s no reason to feel guilty or apologize for the path I’ve walked so far and the one I’ll continue down.
My story should be shared just as much as his (watch here and here for his).
I didn’t know I needed to hear that, but I did—it immediately attacked some emotions hiding and holding me back.
The message was now complete.
Over the course of three different experiences on three different days, the Universe communicated to me, through three amazing human beings, that I need to continue to be grateful and appreciate the situation I find my Self in because it allows me to create without pressure from my soul and share my story, beliefs, and continued evolution with others.
Such a powerful message that I not only received but understand, and that understanding is a big part of the elevated consciousness I am currently feeling.
The Universe will communicate with you, but it might not always come when and where you expect it–it might not even come from one source. Will you be aware enough and open to receiving it?
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
