money is energy

A couple of years ago, I was first introduced to the concept that money is just a form of energy–I’m pretty sure Bob Proctor put it on my radar.

I understood the argument, but I didn’t really understand it at a deeper level, and to be honest, I didn’t give thought to it.

However, recently, it randomly clicked in my mind– "money is in a form or measure of energy that flows to where value/service is being provided.” This thought literally popped into my head out of nowhere; I wasn’t even thinking about money when I made the connection that the direction of the energy represented by money is determined by value and service.

If you think about it, that’s pretty obvious.

We needed to cut down a tree in our front yard, so we hired a guy to cut it down (service/value) and paid him when he was done (money flowed to him).

For some, redefining money as energy may change their relationship with it and allow them to lose some of the negative emotions they have with it. I remember when I shifted how I viewed spending my time from minutes on the clock to the energy exerted; it allowed me to distribute my energy (time) more efficiently.

Here are a few ways to think about money as energy:

1. If you find your Self in a deficit each month, understand that means you are receiving more value than you are giving, at least in terms of how the world views your service. To break out of the deficit, how can you reduce the value you are taking, how can you provide more value, or how can you increase the value of the service you provide to the world? To me, thinking about money through this lens is less intimidating than thinking about how I can cut expenses or make more money.

2. Continuing with the value of your service…do you have skills and/or interests that the world would value more than what you currently provide? This is where your authentic life and unique skills and gifts come into play. If you’ve decided you want to increase the value of your service, look to the gifts and talents that are uniquely yours.

3. Remember the law of attraction, which states that like energy attracts like energy. If your beliefs about money are negative, then you might notice the flow of money to you is not what you want it to be; it might seem like a chicken or egg scenario—are you feeling negative about money because you don’t have what you need, or do you not have what you need because you feel negative about money?

Money is a highly personal and emotional thing. Shifting your perspective might help you develop a better relationship with it. I think viewing it as energy can be a more productive way of changing your relationship with money.
