"do people even know what the 'authentic life' is?"
Over the last couple of years, I’ve had multiple people advise me that I should think of a different phrase to be “known” for—I don’t think their advice is bad or necessarily wrong. The “authentic life” is a broad term, and despite the popularity of “authentic” right now, it’s still a little vague when it is paired with “life.”
But I’m stubborn.
I’m not stubborn with my love for the phrase “authentic life” just to be stubborn.
I’m stubborn because of the way the combination of words makes me fee when I say or think it.
I’m stubborn because I know that the “authentic life” is the life we were created to live, and if more people were able to live that version of their Selves, they’d live happier, more fulfilled lives and make a contribution to the world no one else can make.
I’m stubborn because I can’t think of another term that encapsulates the uniqueness of your authentic life.
I’m stubborn because I remember how “authentic life” seemed to appear out of nowhere while I sat on the beach in Marco Island—almost like it was planted in me with the responsibility to bring it to the world (Note: it's so cool to be able to go back and see how this unfolded and reference these moments---the Pursuit has been documented which will help more people trust in my message and identify their own moments like this---I'm not making this stuff up).
I’m stubborn because I know the concept behind the words “authentic life” is too important not to talk about, and there is no better way to describe it:
The authentic life is the life you were created to live—the life only you can live, which is authentic to YOU and allows you to be the most authentic version of your Self.
I will go to my grave holding onto the “authentic life” regardless of whether it becomes as popular as “best life,” “rich life,” “deep work,” or any of the other phrases that have been accepted by society.
I’ve accepted that the message may grow slower, my audience may not be as large as others on a similar mission, and not everyone will immediately identify with the authentic life. But, because of my commitment and responsibility to the “authentic life,” I trust that in time, the "authentic life" will be more recognized, understood, and, most importantly, lived by more people.
Sometimes, it’s good to listen to other people’s advice, and other times, it’s better to stick to your conviction and trust your heart and intuition.
I'm going with heart and intuition on this one.
See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,
JC
