saying yes to your Self

I met with my coach (I don’t love this title) Thursday, and as we reflected on some recent decisions, some of which I’ve shared in a previous note, he said something that really stood out to me.

He explained how I had said a big yes to my Self earlier this week.

By saying no/not now to an opportunity, I was saying yes to maintaining my desire to do what I want, when I want, and how I want.

By saying no/not now, I was saying yes to being able to finally move forward along the path that was calling me.

By saying no/not now, I was saying yes to ideas that will come in the future and that could not be achieved without complete independence.

Saying no is hard.

It’s especially hard for me because saying yes has been so good to me throughout my life. As a visual person, I often see great possibilities in most opportunities and get excited about what I believe could be.

But every yes to an opportunity that is not aligned with my authentic life is a no to a future opportunity that is.
