Communication is important in a relationship and according to a recent YCharts study many relationships between financial advisors and their clients are lacking communication. Sean Brown, the CEO of YCharts, made the trip down Interstate 65 from Chicago to Fishers, Indiana to discuss the study in greater detail.

There are many takeaways from our conversation and the study, but here are a few of the most important:

  • You must communicate with your clients on a regular basis.
  • How you communicate depends on your comfort level and your clients' preference--there is no one right answer. There is only what is right for you and your clients.
  • Your content should be entertaining and not just data-driven.
  • Don't be afraid to try new ways to communicate; different people prefer to receive their information in different ways. You can cover multiple mediums with the same content.
